Brooklands Zoo recorded rain on just eight days last month, for a total of only 56.6mm, or 47% of normal. At the other end of the scale, Cape Egmont's 126mm was 133% of normal, with 60mm falling in a single day. Only four other sites were near or above normal for the month: Dawson Falls (98%), Stratford (100%), Whareroa (99%) and Charlie’s Clearing in the eastern hillcountry (112%).
Rainfall in the three months of spring (September to November) ranged from 59% to 108% of normal, with an average of 84%. The low of 59% was recorded at North Egmont with 1160mm. The high of 108% was at Cape Egmont with 357.8mm. Other wetter-than-usual sites were Motunui (101%), Whareroa (107%) and Charlies Clearing (101%).
