Name a Vireya - Terms & Conditions

1.
Taranaki Regional Council (Council) is running a competition to name a new rhododendron hybrid. Entrants must successfully complete the Regional Gardens 'passport challenge' which is part of an exhibition at Puke Ariki from 17 September 2019 – 29 February 2020. As well as the naming the new hybrid rhodo, the prize includes one free night's accommodation for up to 12 people, and lunch at the Founders Café
2.
There is no age limit for entry to this competition. How to enter:
  • Collect a passport from the dedicated exhibition area at Puke Ariki. You will notice a ‘secret word’ nearby – which is one of four that you will need to unscramble to unlock the ‘secret code’. There will be a dedicated space in your passport to write this down.  You will need to visit Tupare, Hollard Gardens and Pukeiti to complete the secret code to enable you to enter the competition online and submit your hybrid rhodo name at www.nameavireya.nz .
  • An individual can only enter once.
  • The name cannot already have been used for another rhodo. The entry will be checked against the International Rhododendron Register and Checklist.
3.
There will be one prize winner only. The preferred name for the hybrid rhododendron will be selected by a panel of judges. This name will then be checked against the International Rhododendron Register and Checklist. The winner will be confirmed when the application is approved. This process may delay the announcement of the winner.
4.
The competitions opens on 17 September 2019 and closes at the end of February 2020. Entry must be completed on the TRC website ( www.nameavireya.nz ) by 29 February 2020.
5.
Entries received after this period will not be eligible for consideration.
6.
Entry is open to all ages. TRC Council employees and family members are ineligible to enter the competition.
7.
Judging will commence shortly after the competition closes and the winner will be notified as soon as the name has been accepted by the International Rhododendron Register and Checklist organisation.
8.
The Council’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
9.
The Council reserves the right to terminate, modify or cancel a prize draw or withdraw or substitute the prizes at any time without notice.
10.
The prize cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash.
11.
The Council reserves the right to use the winner’s name and photograph for promotional media and publicity purposes (including the social media and website page of Taranaki Regional Council and Puke Ariki).
12.
When collecting personal information, the Council complies with the Privacy Act 1993 and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
13.
The Council may terminate, suspend, modify or cancel the competition (including without limitation varying the prize) at any time by notice published on the Taranaki Regional Council website.
14.
The parent or legal guardian of an entrant under the age of 18 must consent to these terms and conditions before the entrant can participate in the competition.
15.
The parent or legal guardian of a winner under the age of 18 must claim the prize.
